I saw the first Bridget Jones movie and thought it was around average. My Mum loved it, and when the DVD for Bridget Jones:The Edge Of Reason came out on DVD, she went i bought it right away. So, without much hope or agenda, I decided to watch it.This film is absolutely AWFUL. The story bares no resemblance to the book, and the story was unbelievable. Poor acting all around. Why didn't they get the director from the first film back? She was marginally better.Do yourself a favor, and just read the book, which is actually witty and well-written.
'Sentiment: Negative ☹️'
Why anyone made this film is completely beyond the edge of reason. I was absolutely fuming when I came out of the cinema and was desperate to give those robbing b*****ds a good spanking for making me pay TEN EUROS! to see a film which just blew me off the hook... and onto the sharp edge of my temper. Ooooo, how dare they make a really good and entertaining film and then con us into thinking that the second one would be just as good. Robbery. Absolute robbery. I am a huge fan of romantic comedies but this one was just...(what's the word?) terrible. Please don't see this film. I'm begging you. You will regret it for the rest of your life. I think I'll give this film a generous 2 out of 10 because I am in a kind and caring mood.
'Sentiment: Negative ☹️'
'Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason (2004)' is markedly worse than it predecessor, far too long and almost entirely humourless. It just falls flat in almost every regard and it's honestly quite boring. It has a couple of more compelling moments in its latter half but, even then, its drama isn't all that relatable and its characters are quite flat. Plus, it's unironically underscored by a relentless barrage of obvious, almost insipid pop music that clearly soaked up much of the affair's somewhat bizarrely large budget. It isn't the worst rom-com out there, but it isn't even close to being one of the best. 4/10.
